Alyssa Trujillo’s Story

Alyssa Trujillo was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure at the age of 21 and needs a heart transplant. This is her story.

On July 6th, 2021, Alyssa was found unresponsive on the couch in her home. Unable to breathe, she was rushed to the hospital and intubated. They began testing and found a blood infection that had traveled to her heart, causing endocarditis - a life-threatening inflammation of the inner lining of the heart's chambers and valves.

She was sent home and was on a PICC line for six weeks, when, following further complications, she was admitted to the University of Utah for further testing. Finally, after a month, it was determined that she needed a full heart transplant.

Currently, Alyssa is at home on Oxygen and a defibrillator (Life Vest) due to her high risk of cardiac arrest. She requires 24/7 supervision while awaiting a heart transplant.

Taneasha, her mother, is a self-employed hard-working mother of four children. Unable to work, the day-to-day bills started piling up, and the hospital bills began stacking up on top of the already difficult situation.
